SAVED BY THE BELL is a Peak Fitness programme that uses a kettlebell, a cast-iron “cannonball” weight with an easy-to-grip handle, to give you a combined cardio and strength-training class that could have you burning up to 20 calories a minute!
Kettlebell training will improve mobility and range of motion, increase strength and endurance, and lead to dramatic muscle toning. Through dynamic, total-body movements the class at Peak Fitness will give much faster results for both the muscular and cardiovascular systems than separate cardio/weight-training classes will give you.
The kettlebell is one of the most versatile fitness tools in the gym, and under our instructor’s guidance you will learn to use it to perform dynamic movements like swings, cleans and presses that tax a major portion of your body’s musculature.
Kettlebell exercises work all of the major muscle groups simultaneously as your body works hard to stabilise itself against the momentum of the weight, so you get a full-body workout with almost every exercise. This also means kettlebell exercises don’t isolate muscle groups like traditional weightlifting (which target a single muscle or group of muscles), so the workout is all-round. Plus the pace is such that once you’re moving your heart-rate rises and never goes down, which translates to major fat-burning and the development of your cardiovascular endurance to the highest level.
SAVED BY THE BELL will help increase your mobility and flexibility, giving you the functional strength you need in your everyday life. It’s also a system of control, as you learn to take charge of and tame the heavy cannonball carried by its own momentum!
Typical gym workouts might have you on the treadmill for 45 minutes and then in the weight room for another 45. Kettlebell workouts are a true combination of both strength and cardio, so you’ll get results much more quickly than with traditional free-weights and treadmills. Once you’re accustomed you can move up to heavier weights – the sky is the limit with the kettlebell workout.
